Regulatory Framework

West Virginia intended to open its medical market in mid-2019, but the inefficient legislative process and COVID stalled the launch. Instead, the state will begin issuing medical cards in Spring 2021. 10 cultivation and 10 processing licenses were awarded in late 2020, notably, a few of the licenses awarded went to top MSOs.

Look for more retail licenses to be awarded in 2021.
